BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The 566th Information Operations Squadron shut out the defending champions, the 460th Operations Support Squadron/2nd Space Warning System, 13-0, in the intramural flag football championship Nov. 16.

It was the first time the two teams faced off since the season's inaugural game Sept. 26, in which the 460th OSS/2nd SWS handed the 566th IOS its first of three season losses.

The IOS coach attributed the win to his team building its strategy over the course of the season. He said they formed 27 tenacious plays, practiced more and scouted other teams' strengths and weaknesses.

The teams pushed back and forth in the beginning of the game, trading possession after possession. It was 1st and 20 on the 566th's third possession before OSS safety Sean intercepted the throw.

The 466th drove only five yards in the following possession, and the 566th IOS's tight defense sparked their offense when they had the ball. IOS quarterback Christian threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to receiver Brett on the first down. Christian ran in the one-point conversion for a 7-0 lead.

The 566th's Be fumbled a possible interception on the 460th OSS's possession, but the 460th still couldn't drive more than 10 yards.

On their next possession, the 566th gained 35 yards total with a quarterback scramble and a 10-yard pitch and run to Brett before an incomplete pass on the fourth down stopped them at the 15-yard line.

The 566th IOS's Orri regained possession with an interception on the 460th's first play. The team pushed the ball down the field another 35 yards, but couldn't connect on a touchdown pass before turning the ball over on downs.

Brett gave the 566th another shot at the goal line with another first down interception. Christian took advantage with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Brian to close out the score at 13-0.

The teams swapped possessions with four consecutive interceptions by Brian, Sean, Brett and Sean again.

On the 460th's final possession, the 566th IOS held them on the 20-yard line before time ran out.

The win capped off the season for the 566th IOS, who finished 7-3 on the season, with a six-game winning streak.
