10/16/2012 - BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The annual Information Technology Expo is scheduled 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Newtch's Den. The free event is open to all Team Buckley members and showcases the latest IT products and resources available. In addition, the first 125 attendees will receive a complimentary lunch coupon good for use at Newtch's.

Exhibits will included cyber security, cloud computing solutions, virtualization, unified communications, networking, fiber optics, laptops, notebooks, wireless solutions, training, office automation and more.

"The field of information technology is rapidly advancing today now more than ever, and on average, technology that was new six months ago becomes almost obsolete," explained Dave Johnson, event coordinator. "To stay on top of the latest advancements, it's increasingly more important to be able to demo these new products and to talk to expert in these areas."

These on-display technologies also have the potential to help future warfighters by increasing readiness and operability.

"A number of the products on display will help the war fighter do their jobs with more efficiency through automation, help to protect critical data and information, and advance the IT mission at Buckley by providing new solutions in the areas listed above," said Johnson.

The demonstrations and future projects shown at the IT expo could save the Air Force money and man-hours through their application.

"When you are equipped with the latest technology there is no doubt that you're able to streamline operations and tasks, cut man hours and save money," stated Johnson. "One example would be the implementation of PDA mobile devices, tablets and wireless technology and how that's changed the warfighter environment for the better by dramatically improving secure information sharing and communications."

People may, but are not required to, pre-register at www.fedpage.com. For more information on the event, contact Johnson at davej@fbcdb.com.
