COLONEL ROBERT HUTT

Col. Robert “Bobby” Hutt is the 460th Operations Group Commander, 460th Space Wing, Buckley Air Force Base, Colo. In true total force fashion, the 460 OG is comprised of active duty, reserve, Guard and members from three allied partners who operate the $16 billion Space-Based Infrared System to provide decisive first assessment of worldwide strategic and theater missile launches to Combatant Commanders, the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States. The five units of the 460 OG comprise a key element of U.S. Strategic Command's space and missile warning network providing continuous global surveillance, tracking, targeting, battlespace awareness and technical intelligence to unified commanders and combat forces worldwide.

 

Col Hutt received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1999.  He initially served as an ICBM crew member, instructor, and evaluator in the 12th Missile Squadron and 341st Operations Group at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana.  Following his time in ICBM operations, Col Hutt served in the 76th Space Control Squadron as the Weapons and Tactics Flight Commander and then in the 21st Operations Support Squadron as the Assistant Operations Officer and Vault Chief.  Col Hutt then served as Branch Chief, Counterspace Current Operations, at Headquarters Air Force Space Command.  Following his time in Colorado, Col Hutt was assigned as the Chief of Space and Cyber Programs, Air Force Legislative Liaison, Secretary of the Air Force, Washington D.C..  Following his time in Legislative Liaison Col Hutt returned to Colorado as the commander of the 21st Operations Support Squadron. 

 

Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington DC. Col Hutt currently lives in Buckley AFB, CO with his wife Sarah, and three daughters, Elizabeth, Beatrice, and Naomi.
