Short Term Opportunities

IMPORTANT: Occasionally, an outside organization will request volunteers in uniform. Uniforms are not authorized to be worn to such events without prior approval from base command.


Junior Achievement is a program that allows volunteers to engage with students by taking over a classroom. Topics taught include patriotism, personal finance and government workers. Volunteers will be required to attend a brief training session.

The Salvation Army has many upcoming holiday volunteer opportunities such food, toy and clothing drives, serving meals to the homeless on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, toy bagging and distributing and the Angel Tree Adopt-A-Family programs. Also there are opportunities to speak at the harbor Light Center, a men's sobriety center in downtown Denver. Contact: Ana Turner at 303-866-9219 or email.

Private Organizations

The Bridge Project
The Bridge Project provides educational support and afterschool programs to children growing up in Denver's public housing neighborhoods. The goal is to give underserved youth the support and resources necessary for them to graduate high school and go on to further their education and grow up to be self-sufficient adults. Volunteer tutors are needed to help our students with reading and homework during the school year. The time commitment is one hour a week on weekdays during afternoon or evening hours. Air Force Sergeants' Association
AFSA provides a voice for enlisted women and men, both active and retired, and their families. Volunteer opportunities are available at the pharmacies and are also needed to lobby for military quality of life, fundraising for local charity programs and scholarships and to aid in voter registration.

Girl Scouts
Work with local youth ages 5-17 as troop leaders and more. Long and short term time commitments are available.

Buckley Spouses Group
Buckley's Spouses' group is open to spouses of all ranks. The purpose is to foster a spirit of good fellowship through the provision of social, cultural and recreational activities.

Unit Booster Clubs
Booster Clubs for each unit on base may host events for the unit and hold fundraising activities to fund their unit events. Volunteering for your Unit Booster Club may involve holding a board position or participating in fundraising activities such as ushering at local shows and events.

Aurora Volunteer Center
The City of Aurora provides a central location for city volunteer events. These event range from repairing parks, working with children and improving the city.

Volunteer Oportunities

Airman & Family Readiness Center
The A&FRC has volunteer opportunities for receptionists, program assistants, and other office help.

Buckley Against Drunk Driving (BADD)
BADD is always looking for volunteers to help provide transportation for fellow airmen if they become impaired due to drinking.

Buckley Attic
The Attic provides a place where anyone can donate items as furniture, small appliances, kitchen equipment, clothing, movies and toys. These items are made available to ranks E-4 and below at no charge. Volunteers are always needed to sort, clean and display items.

National History Day - Aurora Public Schools Regional Contest
Need 20 to 30 people to judge student projects or help with student and volunteer check in on Saturday, March 19th, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
